September 2016 Rafting Update

Damn – it was too good to last! We had a great season of rafting on the hydro-electric flow from Luphohlo Dam, but all good things come to an end. In this case the Swaziland Electricity Company(SEC) has suspended all power generation in our catchment, so we are now in the same boat as most other rafting and river operators on the eastern side of South Africa – we are high and dry. Please see the note from management below.

Rafting Update – September 2016

Thanks for your interest in white-water rafting with us. We are in the midst of a serious drought here in Swaziland and whilst we were able to continue rafting up until the end of August 2016, the stored water used for hydroelectric power generation in the Usutu Basin area has now been depleted. As of the beginning of September we have halted all river trips. Any prepaid bookings will be refunded in part or in full if alternative adventures can’t be offered. We will continue taking rafting bookings from November 2016 onwards as the prospects of summer rain are good. Somewhat erratic water levels are expected right through to February or March 2017 and we will advise clients if we deem conditions to be unfavourable for fun!

Fun and adventure is our business, so for those wishing to substitute activities have a look at our Adventure Caving, Sibebe Xtreme Hike, MTB’ing, or Canopy Tour options.
