Border hours have been extended for the festive season to ease traffic flows into and from Swaziland over the festive season. Swaziland attracts large numbers of visitors over holiday seasons, as well as many returning residents coming home to spend the festive season with family members.

Our general advice to travellers is to use smaller border when and where possible and/or to avoid peak hours such as 18h00 to 22h00.

The following announcement was published in the Times of Swaziland newspaper on the 11th December and indicates that:

Ngwenya-Oshoek border will operate 24 days a day between the 19th and 24th of December

Matsamo-Jeppes Reef will extend its operating hours from 20h00 to 22h00 from the 22nd to the 24th December

Mananga-Border Gate will similarly extend operating hours for an additional 2 hours from 18h00 to 20h00 from 19-24 December 2014 and again from 2-4 January 2015

Mahamba Border post will add an additional 2 hours from 22h00 to midnight on the 23rd and 24th December 2014.

Note: the Mhlumeni-Goba border post between Swaziland and Mozambique is permanently 24 hours, thus allowing easy flow of traffic between the two countries.

Travel safe!
