Swaziland – a visitor’s perspective
Here at Swazi Trails we’re obviously really pro-Swaziland and can’t say enough good things about why its worth a visit… however in the face of every tourism marketeer in every destination in the world believing the same… it all becomes a bit beige.
That’s what makes reading visitor reviews and blogs that much more interesting. We recently enjoyed this post by Jason Smart who goes by the blogging name of cessna152. He’s visited and written about 72 different places and clearly is a well-versed traveller. This allowed him to pick up on many of the nuances of Swaziland, its people, attractions and general vibe. Far from being beige – this is a colourful tale that is worth reading.
By his score – Swaziland had the following strengths and weaknesses:
Strengths:
- Swaziland is small enough to see the sights
- The Kingdom is safer than neighbouring South Africa
- The country has beautiful scenery
- There is no ‘hassle factor’ like in many other African cities
- There is not much litter
- There is actually a lot to see for such a small country
Weaknesses:
- Fog and rain
- Speeding fines
But – that said: we’re sure he had his tongue in cheek – there aren’t many places in the world were you get off with a ZAR 60.00 ( US$9) speeding fine.
