Swaziland Airport Tax increase

Swaziland's Matsapha Airport

The Swaziland Civil Aviation Authority (SWACAA) has announced that airport taxes are increasing as of the 1st May 2014. The the existing fee of E 50.00 will be increasing to E 100.00 for all passengers travelling between Swaziland and South Africa. E 1.00 = ZAR 1.00.

Currently Airlink Swaziland is still operating from Swaziland’s Matsapha Airport. This is despite the new King Mswati III Airport having opened at Sikuphe. It is anticipated that at some point in the future the airline will be forced to relocate to the new airport.

The full text of the announcement from SWAGAA reads: ” In line with the publication in the Gazette, the Swaziland Civil Aviation Authority (SWACAA) would like to inform all stakeholders that Airport Tax or Passenger Service Charges will increase from E 50.00 (fifty emalangeni) and the new charges will be as follows: Matsapha International Airport to OR Tambo International Airport E 100.00 (one hundred emalangeni). The increase will be effective 1st May 2014.”
